"THE CROQUET CLUB" was established in 1998 and based on the Bishop's Palace main lawns. With the aid of Croquet North Federation equipment, it was formally opened on 10th May 1998.

After a short period the Club moved to three more sheltered smaller courts at the back of the palace. During this time the club bought their own equipment and hosted visits from other clubs.

In April 1999, due to proposed excessive rent increases the Club moved from the Bishop's Palace to Henknowle and also a local cricket club, and was renamed Auckland Croquet Club.

Today play is at Chilton Miners Welfare Recreation Ground. Main playing sessions are Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
